Orbit has developed a pre treatment method to make the rubber surface more adhesive to phosphorous and to enable the establishment of a biofilm on the surface. Those two mechanisms (a ion exchange principle and a biological purification process) both support the purification of grey- and black water. A bed of Orbit rubber where suage water passes by give at least the same performance and traditional solutions for single household applications. Covered drainage systems with Orbid rubber shreds replacing drainage piping show very promising results. Testing is starting for municipal waste water cleaning as well as mining sludge phosphorous extraction. The Phos can be released from the rubber woth a special Orbit treatment and the rubber can be regenerated many times.
